Overview:

Mangosteen, small tree, 12-20 meters high, with many and dense branches, alternately opposite, branchlets with obvious longitudinal edges.Leaf blade thick and leathery, glossy, elliptic or elliptic-oblong, apex short acuminate, base broadly cuneate or suborbicular.Male flowers 2-9 clustered at the top of branches, short pedicels; female flowers solitary or paired, inserted at the top of branches, slightly larger than male flowers; ovary 5-8 rooms, almost no style, stigma 5-6 deeply lobed.The fruit is purplish red when ripe, with yellow-brown patches, smooth, with 4-5 seeds, aril-like juicy, white.The flowering period is September-October, and the fruiting period is November-December.

Function and usage:

1 Anti-oxidize effect. Mangosteen extract (ethanol solvent) has good cosmetic and skin care effects, based on its ability to effectively remove excess oxygen free radicals, enhance anti-wrinkle, and effectively delay skin aging.

2 Antibacterial effect. Mangosteen extract has a strong inhibitory effect on a variety of pathogenic microorganisms in nature.It can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, a common dermatological bacteria, and some of the components also have inhibitory effects on methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. The polysaccharide components of mangosteen extract can stimulate phagocytes to kill Salmonella Enteritidis intracellular bacteria, and stimulate leukocytes to play phagocytosis and bactericidal effects.

3 Anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. Two kinds of mangosteen flavonoids extracted from mangosteen, α and γ-mangostin, have strong anti-inflammatory activities, and both can significantly inhibit the production of nitric oxide and dinoprostone in the RAW264.7 cell line model stimulated by lipopolysaccharide.

4 Enhance immunity and anti-tumor effect.Mangosteen polysaccharide has phagocytic-like intracellular killing activity and is involved in human immune function. Flavonoids have strong cytotoxic effects on liver cancer cell lines, as well as multiple gastric and lung cancer cell lines.
