Sulfur Content: The defining characteristic of low sulfur petroleum coke is its reduced sulfur content. While the sulfur content in conventional petroleum coke can range from around 2% to 7% or more, LSPC typically contains sulfur levels below 1%. Some high-quality LSPC may even have sulfur content as low as 0.5% or lower.
Production: LSPC is produced through a similar process as regular petroleum coke, which involves heating crude oil or coal tar pitch to high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. However, during the production of LSPC, additional measures are taken to minimize sulfur impurities.
Energy Generation: Low sulfur petroleum coke is used as a fuel source in various industries, including power generation. Its low sulfur content helps reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions when burned, making it environmentally friendly.
Anodes: Like regular petroleum coke, LSPC can be used in the production of carbon anodes for aluminum smelting cells. The low sulfur content is advantageous in aluminum production processes that require strict control of sulfur levels.
