Carbide Anvil

Cemented carbide anvil holders play a critical role in the manufacturing of synthetic diamonds, as they are subjected to high temperatures and pressures. These anvil holders are produced using powder metallurgy technology, which involves forging, pressing, and sintering. Before use, the anvil seat must be aged to eliminate internal residual stresses, which helps prevent cracking during operation.

Tungsten carbide is the preferred material for this application due to its exceptional wear resistance, toughness, strength, and thermal stability. The anvil holders are mounted on a large pad cube with a 6-sided piston top, allowing the cavity to reach up to 10 to 20 GPa and 1500 °C when the six anvil holders are driven together by the cylinder to form a closed environment. This means that the tungsten carbide anvil is operating under supercritical conditions and is exposed to stress, tensile stress, and shear stress simultaneously.

All anvil holders undergo advanced pressing, sintering, and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) processes to ensure their superior performance and absence of defects. Overall, cemented carbide anvil holders are essential equipment for synthetic diamond manufacturing and other applications where extreme pressure and temperature resistance are required.
