Many people think it's a very rich and unique scent, like a warm summer; just like Boccaccio's bold and unrestrained pursuit of love, this fragrance is also called "Summer love".
Product Description
In 1313 Giovanni Boccaccio was born out of wedlock between a Florentine businessman, Chellino Boccaccio, and an unknown woman. When he grew up, he was sent by his father to Napoli, where he reluctantly practiced business in a company in which his father had a stake. Because he had no interest in business, he learned little during his time there. His father saw little hope in his studies of business and sent him to study law and religious law, but also laws failed to excite him. Laws and regulations gave him no incentive to develop. It was only when his father's business went bankrupt that Boccaccio moved on.
During his stay in Napoli, in the 1330's, Boccaccio had access to the court of King Robert of Anzio. Here,
his personality and intelligence are fully displayed.
He had extensive contacts with many humanist poets, scholars, theologians and jurists; he was exposed to the life of noble knights. This enriched his life experience,
expanded his cultural and artistic vision
and further sparked his interest in classical culture and literature.
At court he met Robert's illegitimate daughter, Maria d'Aquino, and fell in love with her.
This romantic experience also left a deep impression in his literary creation.
Some of the female images he created in his later literary works, especially Fiammetta, can be seen
in the shadow of Maria. She is regarded as the goddess image of “Kindness”, “Purity”, “Courage” and “Fearlessness” by European people.
If it were not for Maria, Boccaccio would not have been one of the three most celebrated Renaissance figures in the world.
The "ARTE DELLA SETA 1248" was created by the Medici's Silk Weaving Guild and Goldsmiths' Guild when they donated the curtains of wealth to the poor and orphans of the time, inspired by Boccaccio's love for Maria - Fiammetta, the image of “Good”, “Simple”,“Brave”. The Orphanage Plaza (Ospedale degli Innocenti), designed by famous architect Brunelleschi, which raised money for the poor and orphans of Florence, still stands together with Brunelleschi's masterpiece, the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral.
Filippo Brunelleschi: terra-cotta relief disc from the Orphanage in Florence.
Brunelleschi's Orphanage not only served the Florentine poors, but also outlines a plaza, a public space with social, religious and political functions.
"ARTE DELLA SETA 1248" first appeared at a thanksgiving reward banquet. The Silk Weaving Guild gave incense to thank the guild members for their donation to the orphanage. It was very popular because of its strong fragrance and warmth, slowly also became the heavyweight gift for aristocratic wedding banquets. Many people think it's a very rich and unique scent, like a warm summer; just like Boccaccio's bold and unrestrained pursuit of love, this fragrance is also called "Summer love".
