Wealth may have national boundaries, but art is without territory.
In the world of beauty and art, only inheritance and resonance.

There were two French queens in the House of Medici, most famously Maria de' Medici

Maria was the sixth daughter of Grand Duke Francesco I de' Medici of Tuscany and Grand Duchess Joanna of Austria, a descendant of Lorenzo the Elder, of the once mighty family of the Medici. The Grand Duchess, a descendant of the "mad" Juana of Castile from the Habsburg family, had a difficult relationship with her husband and had eight children, surviving only three daughters. Maria was the lady's youngest surviving daughter.

When her parents died, she became the richest heiress in Europe at the age of 26. She married King Henry IV of France and became Queen. On October 23, Maria left Florence for Marseille, France, she was accompanied by 2,000 entourage and a lavish dowry of 600,000 gold écus (2 million pounds) to France. It was enough to pay off all the debt France had taken on at the time and even to run a surplus, which made one marvel at the Medici family's wealth. For Henry IV, the marriage was a bargain.

Henry IV was called one of the greatest kings in French history. But from historical records, he seems the kind of local style landlord son... Disposition hearty enthusiasm, attitude amiable, love to drink, love gambling, love to eat garlic on bread, love hunting but does not love to take a bath... The exquisite Maria of the Medici family, who is said to have consummated his first marriage, had to wear a full bottle of perfume to complete the ritual.

Maria was a delicate Medici and, when she came to Paris from Florence, she was stunned by what she saw. She is promised to marry into a royal family and become a queen, but how can such a man be so full of rags? How can his taste be so rustic that new husband doesn't care at all about the old decorations, but turns to blow bottles with the ministers? The intolerant Maria began renovating the Louvre with money from the House of Medici, and the world-famous “Louvre” was born with a House of Medici artistic quality and renaissance aura; it is still the most dazzling presidential palace in France.

At Maria's request, the famous Peter Paul Rubens painted 24 masterpieces for the Luxembourg Palace. He painted portraits of Maria's life, revealing the Queen's grandeur and heroism. The painter combined history, Greek mythology and religion to eulogize her history and merits. Today, they are collected in the Richelieu wing of Louvre Museum, for the endless stream of visitors from the world to see.

In 1610, when she was 35 years old, her husband was assassinated. It is said that in 1616, in order to commemorate her beautiful love with Henry IV, Maria built an alley lined with elm and linden trees on the outskirts of the Louvre, named "Queen's Boulevard". This promenade became very famous in later generations, it is the world famous Avenue des Champs Elysées.

Although Queen Maria's life was full of controversies, it is undeniable that she brought the artistic taste of Renaissance to the palace and laid an indelible foundation for French romance and luxury. The luxurious style of the Louvre and the romantic elegance of the Champs Elysées opened the skylight of art for the French people and also provided the original denominator of art for many successive French luxuries. French crystal lighting, leather high heels shoes, French jewelry, French luxury bags, Louvre royal floor tiles, goblets, French cosmetics... Renaissance Medici references can be found in many of the world's well known luxury goods.

Because of the contribution of the two Medici queens to French art, the French royal family specially gave their symbol on top of the coat of arms of the Medici family.

Later, the Medical Herb and Spice Guild of the Medici family, in honor of Maria and Henry IV's international and far-reaching commercial and political marriage, thanked her for bringing art to France, creating a mysterious and full of complex spices fragrance, “ARTE DEI MEDICI E SPEZIALI 1349”. Like steel and soft woven together, triggering people's exploration of nature and life.
